Our Vet Diagnostic Services 

We are very proud of our in-house veterinary diagnostics lab which gives us the opportunity to offer you a fast, accurate diagnosis of your pet's condition, thanks to our advanced diagnostic testing technology.

• Ultrasound

  Diagnostic imaging gives our team the ability to create extremely in-depth images of your pet's internal structures.

  The ultrasound imaging exposes parts of the body to high-frequency sound waves to create images of inside your pet's body. 

  Because the ultrasound images we capture are in real-time, we are able to examine the movement and structures of your companion's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through the blood vessels.

  Because we have this valuable technology available the vets at our in-house lab can quickly diagnose your cat's or dog's medical condition and start treatment as soon as possible.

  We are one of the only pet hospitals in the Fitchburg area to have ultrasound technology.

• Radiography (Digital X-Rays)

  With a radiograph (digital x-ray), our vets are able to examine your pet's internal systems to find information that might not be seen from the outside. 

  Radiography is non-invasive, safe and painless. It only uses very low doses of radiation. since the required level of radiation exposure to conduct radiography is really low, young pets and pregnant females can have this procedure done. 

  We can use radiographs to evaluate bones and organs, as well as to diagnose conditions such as broken bones, chronic arthritis, bladder stones, spinal cord diseases and some tumors.

  We are also able to provide telemedicine service to patients across Central Massachusetts when needed in order to send your pet's diagnostic images to a board-certified radiologist for examination.

• Bloodwork

  At our vet lab in Westminster, we are able to run a number of both common and specialized blood tests to help determine the health of your pet.

  Some of the most common veterinary blood tests we conduct are CBC (complete blood count), white blood count, hemoglobin and MCHC, i-Stat testing to measure blood gases, coag machines to measure for blood clots and SNAP blood testing. 

• Urinalysis

  Urinalysis is a key diagnostic test offered in our veterinary lab that can give us essential insights into the physical and chemical properties of your pet's urine.

  Urinalysis is primarily used to assess the health of your animal's kidneys and urinary tract system, but it can also be helpful in detecting issues in other organ systems and is important for diagnosing metabolic diseases such as diabetes.

  This is a valuable diagnostic test for both healthy and sick animals and should be included in any comprehensive evaluation of your pet's overall health. 

• Endoscopy

  An endoscope is made up of a very tiny camera and a light that's connected to the end of a flexible tube.

  When we perform endoscopys,  we insert a long, thin tube directly into the body so we can observe an internal organ or tissue in detail.

  Endoscopes that are minimally invasive can be inserted into the openings of the body like the mouth or anus.

• ECG / EKG

  If your vet performs a physical examination and believes your pet might have a heart disorder, we often take X-rays of their chest and an electrocardiogram (ECG / EKG).

  This is a quick and easy procedure to complete. It shows data that could be integral to your pet's diagnosis. In some cases, a cardiac ultrasound might be required to find disorders in the chambers of the heart.

  If, in the course of the procedure, we detect a heart arrhythmia in your dog, our veterinarians may recommend that you schedule a consultation with our traveling cardiologist.

• Digital Dental X-Rays

  If your cat, dog or exotic pet has periodontal disease, lots of this damage is happening below the gum line where it can't be found easily. Digital dental X-Rays assist our veterinarians in assessing your pet's oral health.

  Digital X-Rays are safer for your pet and let our team of vets examine the roots, bones and internal anatomy of your dog or cat's teeth.

  The risk of radiation exposure with digital X-Rays for your pet is significantly lower than with traditional X-Ray technology. Our vets are able to see beneath the surface of your pet's gum line to fully examine every tooth.

  This technology lets your Westminster vet get your results right away, then displays them on a computer screen to review.
